Selank
A Russian trial abstract with 62 patients who had generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia says Selank and medazepam had similar effects on anxiety (PMID 18454096; checked: 2026-08-25). The Selank group had 30 patients. The medazepam group had 32. The abstract also says Selank eased fatigue and had a stimulant effect. It gives no effect size, interval or p-value. No funder is named in the PubMed record.
What is Selank?
The United States GSRS lists Selank as a peptide made of seven amino acids (checked: 2026-08-25). Its sequence is TKPRPGP. The base record has UNII TS9JR8EP1G and CAS 129954-34-3. An animal paper calls Selank a peptide analog of tuftsin (PMID 36322304; checked: 2026-08-25).
GSRS also has a linked Selank diacetate salt. Its UNII is Q94Z9E92UU. No CAS is listed for this salt. TP-7 and TP 7 each find the base and the salt. GSRS has another record for N-acetyl Selank. Its UNII is J3PM702O93. It has a separate active moiety. It is not the base or the diacetate.
The register keeps selank acetate because the United States FDA row uses that wording with TP-7. The phrase does not name one exact GSRS record. This page does not use it as one chemical name. These GSRS facts were checked on 2026-08-25.
What did human studies report?
The four human papers below can be read here only as abstracts. Their PubMed records name no funder.
| Source | People | Design | What the abstract reports | What it does not print |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PMID 18454096 | 62 with generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia | Randomized; Selank 30, medazepam 32 | Similar anti-anxiety effects; Selank also had anti-fatigue and stimulant effects | Effect size, interval, p-value |
| PMID 25176261 | 60 with phobic-anxiety or somatoform disorders | Comparative; Selank and phenazepam | Marked anti-anxiety and mild nootropic effects; the anti-anxiety effect lasted one week | Group sizes, effect size, interval, p-value |
| PMID 26356395 | 70 with anxiety-phobic, hypochondriac or somatoform disorders | Randomized; phenazepam 30, Selank plus phenazepam 40 | The combined group had less attention and memory impairment, asthenia, sedation, longer sleep, sexual disturbances, emotional indifference and orthostatism from phenazepam | Effect size, interval, p-value |
| PMID 32342318 | 52 healthy people | Resting-state fMRI; Selank, Semax and placebo | Changes in brain-network connectivity | A clinical outcome, effect interval |
The table was checked against the PubMed records on 2026-08-25. Tier B reflects the small or short human studies. It does not show that a medicine was approved.
What did the United States FDA publish about Selank?
Selank acetate (TP-7) is in the United States FDA table called “Bulk drug substances nominated but withdrawn”. The FDA says these drugs were once in Category 2 under interim rules. The people who put them forward later withdrew them. Selank is not in the current Category 2 table. The table has no date-added field. It has no 503A or 503B label.
The FDA row says compounded Selank acetate may pose a risk of an immune response for some routes. It cites aggregation and peptide impurities as the reasons. The FDA also says it lacks key facts about safety issues in human use. The row is a United States statement about compounding safety. It is not a drug approval. It is not a ban. It is not a trial result. It does not prove that no human studies exist. These table facts were checked on 2026-08-25.
How much human research is registered?
Name and code searches found no bound Selank trial in ClinicalTrials.gov on 2026-08-25. NCT01747200 was ruled out. Its TP7 text names an EEG electrode site. No field names Selank. Ten other hits were unrelated word matches.
CTIS searches returned HTTP 403. Their result cannot be checked. The EudraCT tool gave the same count for Selank and a nonsense control. Its count is unclear rather than zero.
A seizure paper says Selank and Semax had not completed clinical trials (PMID 31667971; checked: 2026-08-25). PubMed labels PMID 18454096 and PMID 26356395 as randomized trials. Both source statements appear here. The gap is not explained.
What is Selank's EU status?
EU status: unclear. Selank did not appear in the EMA central medicines report on 2026-08-25. The check used working controls. This report does not cover every national approval in an EU state.
When was Selank first documented?
No sound first-observed month is recorded. PMID 31667971 says suspect products were found at the end of 2017 and in 2018. It gives no month for the 2017 event. The register thus keeps first_observed: null. The paper was published in January 2020. That date is not used as the observation month.
What did testing of seized products find?
PMID 31667971 reports on two seized products as one set. The abstract says the samples contained Selank and Semax. It gives no count for Selank alone. It gives no purity value. It gives no identity pass rate. It gives no endotoxin result. It gives no sterility result. No rate is inferred. The PubMed record names no funder.
What do users report?
No full first-person thread was found in the forum archive under Selank, TP-7, TP 7, TP7 or Selank acetate. The page has no forum quote or group claim.
