KPV Peptide

Four exact PubMed searches found no clinical trial of KPV (checked 24 Aug 2026). Four exact ClinicalTrials.gov searches also found none. Mouse and human-cell studies found effects on inflammation. They did not treat people.

What is KPV peptide?

KPV is Lys-Pro-Val, the last three parts of alpha-MSH (PMID 18061177; checked 24 Aug 2026). PubMed's NLM data gives the name MSH (11-13) and CAS 67727-97-3.

GSRS found no exact match for KPV, alpha-MSH(11-13), or MSH (11-13) (checked 24 Aug 2026). NLM still provides a CAS for the page.

KPV is not Melanotan-2. PMID 12750433 says KPV acted differently from core MSH peptides. It was unlikely to act through melanocortin receptors.

What did the two mouse-colitis models find?

PMID 18092346 tested KPV in two mouse models of gut inflammation (checked 24 Aug 2026). In the DSS model, treated mice got well sooner and regained more weight.

Fewer inflammatory cells entered the tissue, and colon MPO activity fell. The other model also showed recovery, weight regain, and less tissue inflammation.

In mice without a working MC1 receptor, KPV saved all animals in the treated group from death. The abstract does not give the group count.

PubMed marks non-US government support but lists no grant. Funding in the full paper was not checked.

What did the PepT1 study find?

PMID 18061177 used human gut-lining cells, human T cells, and two mouse models (checked 24 Aug 2026). KPV blocked NF-kappaB and MAP-kinase signals. It lowered the release of inflammatory cytokines.

PepT1 carried KPV into immune and gut cells. KPV also lowered inflammatory cytokine expression in mice.

What did the human-skin study measure?

PMID 28343991 used human skin outside the body (checked 24 Aug 2026). KPV did not pass through on its own at a level the test could see.

Microneedles raised movement to 4.4 µg/cm²/h. Electric current and the combined method raised the rate 8-fold and 35-fold versus microneedles alone.

This measured movement through tissue. It did not measure an effect or side effect in a person.

PubMed marks US government non-PHS support but gives no grant code. Funding in the full paper was not checked.

What does evidence tier C mean here?

KPV has mouse, cell, and tissue evidence. No human clinical trial was found. Tier C stays right (checked 24 Aug 2026).
